I worked very late today so tonight I called a motel to talk to the front desk. The reason that I called a motel was because motels are always open.
Front Desk: (motel name) How may I help you?
Me: Hi, would I be allowed to hand out gospel tracts outside near the lobby?
Front Desk: Gospel tracts? What is that? Is that some sort of religious material?
Me: Yes, they are small sheets of paper with the gospel written inside.
Front Desk: No, that would not be appropriate here.
Me: Do you know the gospel?
Front Desk: I might not know your gospel.
Me: Well, mine is that God in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ came to this earth and....
Front Desk: Sir, I don't really want to hear this.
Me: Okay, have a good night.
When things don't go exactly as I had hoped I often second guess why I did it, but at the same time I could have gotten a completely different response and I would have praised God for the appointment. I have witnessed to many front desk employees while staying at hotels/motels and I find that most have enough downtime to entertain conversation. Tonight, this was not the case.
