The biggest wrestling tournament of the year is tomorrow, so tonight I attended a coaches' meeting. When I arrived I noticed that there was plenty of pizza and soda to go around. I sat at a table with a coach who began to pray before his meal. I made a mental note of that and continued with the business that needed to be discussed. After the meeting was over, I approached the coach.
Me: I noticed that you prayed before you enjoyed your meal tonight. Do you have a church background?
Coach: Yes, I do. I recently moved so I'm currently in between churches. So far we have narrowed it down to three that we like.
Me: To you who is Jesus (This is asked to assess if he is trusting in the Savior).
Coach: He is the Son of God (This is an impersonal answer. If one has a relationship with Christ, most will say he is my Lord and Savior).
Me: Do you have a relationship with Him?
Coach: I do, but not as much as I should. I have pushed him aside these last few months. I get caught up with life and unfortunately God is the first one I ignore when I get busy.
I then proceeded to share the gospel with this coach. Afterwards, he commented, "Thank you. I really needed to hear that." The tournament will last all weekend. I plan on spending more time with him between matches so please pray for us.
