When building a house, a solid foundation is essential. My foundation for life is the Scriptures. I stand on its authority and believe that every word is God-breathed. I met John sitting outside of a Barnes & Noble. He appeared to be waiting on someone. I wanted to see what John's foundation was build upon so I asked him a few questions.
Me: What do you think happens when you die?
John: I believe that people are angry at God for the problems that exist in this world. Because they blame God, they will go to hell. Those who forgive God will go to Heaven. I believe that Satan wants people to go to heaven so he tries to get people to forgive themselves as well as God.
Me: How do you know this? Did you read a book?
John: No, I sort of made it up.
Me: What's your name?
John: John.
Me: So you have written your own book. Let's call it the book of John (smiling). Are you familiar with the Bible?
John: Yes, very familiar.
Me: Your beliefs are the complete opposite of what the Bible says. The Bible says....
Good questions can reveal a weak foundation. John has built his house on sand and because I care where he spends eternity, I had to tell him.
