A family member that I had not seen for many years stopped by for lunch. He explained to me that for the last two years he had been casting spells, using ouiji boards, and tarot cards. He said that he believed at one time his house contained many demons. Recently, he has been visiting with Jehovah's Witnesses and has been attending the Kingdom Hall. He does not believe in their teachings, but enjoys their company. He lives by himself in a very small town. The most striking thing about my distant cousin is his knowledge of the Bible. He had spent some time in church when he was younger and was able to recite many verses as I was sharing the gospel. Yet, he struggles with simply believing the message. I informed him that the Lord was but a prayer away and opened my Bible to Psalm 51:
Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindess,
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from sin.
