As I was driving home from work, I noticed a few cars in the parking lot of a nearby church. This is where I ran into a youth pastor. Today's youth groups have an 80% drop-out rate. When I hear that statistic, I often wonder if the gospel is being preached. That is why I asked this pastor if he would articulate the good news.
Pastor: You have to accept Jesus and His sacrificial death.
Me: Can someone get to heaven without Jesus?
Pastor: I don't believe so, no.
Me: How do you know?
Pastor: The Bible says so.
Me: Where?
Pastor: I don't know, but it's in there.
This pastor had a great attitude while putting up with my many questions, which was a good sign. I have been chewed out multiple times by weekly church attenders who do not appreciate me prying into their private beliefs. I thanked him for his kindness and openness. He continued to stand as if he would answer my questions all day. What a nice guy. Would it bother you if I asked you the same questions? How would you have responded?
