I was at the grocery store when I asked the clerk about her necklace. She told me that the symbol had to do with the Asian zodiac. I asked, "Where is God in the Asian zodiac?" She thought for a brief moment and then shrugged, "I don't know." I handed her a tract and asked her to read it when she had time. To answer her question, the Lord is not in the Asian zodiac. It is a set of doctrines that primarily deal with legends and myths. When the apostle Paul encountered a culture built on myths he proclaimed unapologetically in chapter 14 of the book of Acts, "Turn from these vain things and turn to the living God who made the heavens and the earth." My encounter today was a little less direct, but there is a time and place to be as direct as Paul. Let's be faithful to seize opportunities, and like Paul, plead with them to turn to the living God.
