If everyone had the same personality, this world would be pretty boring. I try my best to think of ways to create spiritual conversations and most of them seem adaptable to every personality type. However, tonight's attempt may discourage a few introverts. My family and I went out to dinner. We went to a restaurant where the servers write their names on the table as they introduce themselves. Jen is a recent college graduate who is waiting for her husband to graduate before she enters into the "real world." She approached our table, introduced herself, and wrote her name upside down. After she had concluded her introduction, I grabbed a crayon and began to introduce my family. I wrote each one of my kid's names on the table. As I would write their names, Jen would verbalize what was written. Once Dana and the kids had been introduced I drew a big cross in the middle of the table and said, "…and this is what we are (pointing to the cross). Do you know what that means?" Jen looked confused so I translated, "This is a cross. We are Christians." She replied, "So am I!" We talked about the Lord most of the night, and by the end of our conversation, Dana and I discovered that Jen was lukewarm about the things of God. Maybe this crazy introduction will serve as a time of examination for Jen. Jesus will spit out the lukewarm. Be on fire for God and let others see your passion for Him. Just do it in a way that is appropriate for your personality.
