With some encounters it is pretty simple to move forward in the conversation. The hard part is trying to decide where to get started. Should I jump straight into the gospel? Should I test the waters? Today I lunged forward in the ice cold heart of a man named Chris. I gave him a tract and he immediately told me in his most polite voice that he didn't have the slightest interest in talking with me. So I backed up. Not physically, but in my choice of topic. I said, "Is everything going okay today?" Suddenly Chris gave me an earful of his life. I listened and moved closer and closer toward the things of God. Chris eventually warmed up and we were soon talking about the things of God. Next time you have someone tell you to get lost, back pedal a bit in your destination toward the gospel. It helps to get out of the way while the door slowly opens.
